LIPAM /NUL Diploma in  Public Administration & Magement

 

AIM

The aim of this programme is to build capacity within the public service by bridging the gap between degree holders and high school graduates therein. Furthermore, it is aimed at catering for high school leavers who have not obtained the requisite pass for direct entry into degree programmes. 

OBJECTIVES

At the end of the course students will be able to:

§         Undertake academic research professionally

§         Deal successfully with issues pertaining to Public Administration and Management  

About DPA

This Diploma programme is affiliated to the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) under the Department of Political and Administrative Studies (PAS) at NUL.

The structure of this diploma programme is prescribed in the Faculty of Social Science regulations. The duration of the programme has changed from 18 months to two full academic years.

Admission Requirements

§         The normal minimum entrance requirements for the Diploma in Public Administration and Management (DPAM) shall be: 

ü      A Cambridge Overseas School Certificate (COSC) in at least the third division with a 7 pass in English or equivalent; or 

ü      A certificate in any Social Science course from any institution recognized by NUL. 

ü      Applicants shall be required to submit at least two letters of references from two persons of academic standing; one of which certifies that the applicant has the aptitude to benefit from Training Institute. 

All applications should go through an admissions committee, which is made up of Director of Training Directorate in the Ministry of the Public Service, Director Academic LIPAM, Diploma in Public Administration and Management Coordinator (DPAMC) and a representative of the Department of Political and Administrative Studies (PAS) - NUL

Course Assessment 

ü      The performance of students in Year I and II shall be assessed on a continuous bases comprising assignments and test.

ü      In addition to course assessment, a Department may prescribe a comprehensive evaluation in a major subject. 

ü      Performance in each course shall be assessed on the basis of a ratio or coursework to formal examinations of 1 to 2.
